Hong Kong Air Pollution
Air pollution in Hong Kong is considered a serious problem. Visibility is less than eight kilometers for 30% of the year. Cases of asthma and bronchial infections have soared in recent years due to reduced air quality.

  •      On two cloud-free days, the haze situation can differ dramatically depending on the season and therefore on the direction of the wind.
  • Economic impact: Even as early as 2000, the total negative impact on the Hong Kong Economy was serious. Diseases caused by air pollution such as cardio respiratory disease led to an expenditure in excess of HK$11.1 billion.[9] Research estimates that the pollution is costing Hong Kong about HK$1billion a year in hospital admissions and lost productivity. In addition, about 1,600 deaths a year might be avoided if air quality improves. Although HK$1 billion dollars may not be a big amount to Hong Kong at this point, it will be quite an amazing amount if the cost keeps going up year after year.
